So, what is the importance of effectively cleaning a new tattoo?
A tattoo is a unique area of damage, created in a controlled and aseptic (clean) manner. Hence, the care of the tattooed area may be treated specifically as such.
Once the Artist has finished the tattoo session they generally clean the area, apply an after care cream and then an occlusive wrap. It is at this point that the initiation of scab formation occurs. Under the wrap, the weeping area of damage allows blood platelets to begin collecting on the surface of the tattoo. To prevent further formation of a scab it is necessary to remove the blood platelets.
The design of the wash is such that it is able to effectively remove deposited blood without causing irritation or discomfort.
After this area has been gently cleansed as directed with the Cleansing Foam and allowed to dry, apply a fine layer of Protat Soothing Cream or Protat Premium Cream to provide a semi-permeable membrane over the tattoo.
For best results, cleanse the area twice a day and re-apply Protat Aftercare Cream.

The design of the Cleansing Foam is deliberately NOT anti-bacterial. A tattoo applied by a Professional Artist is done so using clean and aseptic techniques to avoid the introduction of ‘nasty’ bacteria. The skin has a natural, friendly population of bacteria that actually help to protect the surface of the wound. Therefore, the use of an anti-bacterial product would kill any nasty bacteria if they were present, but it would also greatly reduce the natural bacteria population and leave the skin with out its primary defense mechanism.
Aloe Vera and Natural Vitamin E provide extra care, and the absence of perfumes reduces the concern of allergy or irritation.
